New apartment buildings in New Castle built with Woltman 50 PR-FF
In New Castle (Delaware, United States of America) a former brownfield is prepared to be ready for 4 apartment buildings. The former old industrial steel metal foundry had metal debris, wood, old stumps and a thick layer of slag. That’s the reason why the precast piles are fitted with rock shoes. These rock shoes keep the pile driving through rocks, metal or other obstacles. They have a high capacity to withstand compression and lateral stress.
The project consisted of 400 pieces precast piles with a length varying between 25ft and 35ft. For the Woltman 50PR-FF an easy job, taken into account the capacity of this pile driving rig. With the 50PR-FF, a single pile of max. 72ft can be driven. The leader capacity of this 63 tons operational weight rig is a staggering 18.5 ton (pile + hammer).
Although 63 tons seems light for a piling rig with a 7 tons hammer, some states/countries may require lighter transport possibilities. Therefore, the hammer as well as the counterweight can be de-assembled. By doing so, the transport weight will be reduced to only 45 tons (metric).
The PVE NL series hydraulic impact hammer line are designed according to a modular set-up. Therefore a 1 or 2 tons extension can be fitted to a PVE 5NL to make it a 6 tons or even 7 tons impact hammer. This makes the contractor flexible when approaching a project.
The Woltman 50PR-FF of Sun Piledriving Equipment
is fitted with the latest safety and operational features to make pile driving a well monitored and efficient process. Some of these features are Zollern Free fall winches, Caterpillar Tier 4F / Stage 4 engine, motion alarms and enhanced data acquisition (PVE measure strike).
